Meditation is a process of training our mind to focus and increase awareness of ourselves and our surroundings as well as reduce stress and develop concentration.
Regular practice of meditation also helps to develop other beneficial habits and feelings, such as a positive mood and outlook, self-discipline, healthy sleep patterns and even decrease pain.
The base of meditation is observation and non-judgement. To do so, we sit still and bring our attention to the breath. We notice how we feel and observe the thoughts that arise without judgement, let them go, and focus on our breath again bringing our awareness to the present moment. This daily practice helps to loose the need to control our life and accept what life brings as we understand that we have no power over what life throws at us, but we have the power to chose how we feel about it.
